The White Top

In my last post, I said how much I love a statement sleeve, more specifically a puff sleeve.  I also said that you would find at least two of these tops in white, in my closet at any given point. There have been several occasions where I’ve been shopping with friends and I come across a blouse that I immediately fall in love with, when I hear, “Of course you love it. It’s a white top.” They aren’t wrong. There’s something about a white top that feels effortless and classy, and I’m not the only one who thinks so. Variations of a white top will always be on every wardrobe essential list you come across because they are timeless and versatile!

When choosing a white top, I look for details that make it stand out and bring interest to an outfit. For this particular top, its the puff sleeves.

*Style Tip* It’s important to keep your body in mind when purchasing any top! I have wide hips and a small waist, so I needed to style a bottom that would accentuate my waist, especially with the volume of the shoulders on this top. Structured or wide shoulders on a top, with a cinched waist, will create a more balanced proportion. If your body is more narrow, this will create the illusion of curves.

I styled this top with medium wash jeans because it is a classic look for every woman. Both are staples in your closet because they are a fantastic base when creating a look. Slip on a pair of strappy sandals, mules, or pumps, with a bit of jewelry and a great bag and you’re ready for work, brunch, a date, a girls day out, etc. Or you can throw on a white pair of sneakers or cute flats for a more casual and functional look.

*If you’re wanting to go for a more romantic and on-trend look, pair a puff sleeve blouse with a silk midi skirt and mules! If you want to give a nod to menswear, you can pair it with high-waisted trousers.*

If you’re thinking, “I can’t wear white,” because you think you’re too messy, your kids are too messy, or you believe the lie that you can’t wear it after Labor Day, I’m here to encourage you that it is possible and you can absolutely do it. Thankfully, there are ways to treat stains that keep your clothes looking fresh.

I’ve shared this tip before but I love letting people in on this secret, drop an uncoated aspirin in with your whites. It helps them continue to look bright!
