Persuaded By Pastels

Pastels for Spring are about as groundbreaking as floral prints for this time of year, but right now, I am not complaining. The way designers and stylists have recently presented the color palette has sparked more than joy in me.

We are getting immersed in romanticism, which, correct me if I am wrong, is common in times of chaos. Artists, musicians, and authors often use romanticism to escape the realities of a broken culture and what better time than now? We could all use a dose of something different to inspire us.

My current wardrobe is lacking excitement and color. I own mostly neutrals with an occasional pop of red. So you can see how pastels are out of my comfort zone right? But I have been enchanted by the looks of the chicest bloggers, images on Instagram, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, enough to want to run away to their whimsical world of color!

My introduction into the said world is subtle and combines two of this season’s biggest trends: pastels and puffed sleeves. Normally, I’m inconsistent when it comes to buying into trends. Like most fashion editors will tell you, I believe you invest in staple items and a piece or two from a trend you will be comfortable holding on to when the trend isn’t as popular.

I am a sucker for a statement sleeve, it’s a trend I am always willing to participate in! If you look in my closet at any given time, there will be at least two white puff sleeve tops. They are what initially drew me to this pink top, and you know, everything else about it. This shirt is embodies everything I love about the pastel trend this season. It’s whimsical and romantic, but at the same time bold and unique!

Instead of going for a monochrome look, I paired the shirt with high-waisted flared pants and periwinkle pumps.

What trends do you want to participate in this Spring? How would you style pastels? How are you finding inspiration?
